Sometimes what a student with ADHD needs most from you is not part of your lesson plan.

School can be very difficult for children with ADHD due to the impact ADHD has on self-regulation. In the classroom they often struggle to sit still, focus and concentrate, stay on track, and transition between tasks. They may also display problems with interpersonal relationships as their ADHD traits tend to be viewed as socially unacceptable.

To optimise the outcomes of students with ADHD, teachers require education that fosters an in-depth understanding of ADHD and how it can show up in a student’s life, as well as guidance on how to put in place the supportive and nurturing scaffolding these students need to succeed and feel good about themselves.
