'RAISING CHILDREN WHO THRIVE WITH ADHD'
PARENTING PROGRAM
The aim of the "Raising Children with ADHD who Thrive' Parenting Program is to empower parents to raise children with ADHD in a manner that will most likely help them develop into independent, healthy, well-adjusted adults who thrives.
The information and skills contained in this parenting program have been developed to empower parents to be able to:
- Sensitively understand and accurately interpret your child’s ADHD symptoms and tendencies.
- Appreciate what your child with ADHD likely to be able to do or not do at a particular age so that you can ensure there is a good fit between their inherited vulnerabilities and the demands placed upon them.
- Set your child with ADHD up for success by putting in place supportive scaffolding that helps to bridges the gap between any expectations placed on them and their innate abilities
- Pause, reflect, adapt and respond to your child with ADHD’s individuality in a way that facilitates healthy attachment and respectful two-way communication, along with age-appropriate development of the traits that adolescents and adults with ADHD have identified as helping them live well (i.e., self-awareness, acceptance of difference or disability, self-compassion and realistic optimism).
- Facilitate positive adaption and self-mastery by gently and collaboratively fostering in your child with ADHD (without triggering the fight or flight response) the knowledge and skills they will require in adulthood to independently scaffold their ADHD traits, navigate the challenges they will inevitably face, and live a full and rewarding life.
