Fostering Self-Esteem & Positivity

According to  Positive Psychologist/Scientist Barbara Fredrickson (2011), the key to flourishing lays in increasing heartfelt positivity whilst decreasing negativity. In fact, if you can increase your heartfelt positivity ratio to 3 to 1 and maintain it, the research shows you will be happier, more creative and more resilient. Positivity is also linked to longevity, higher levels of mental and physical health, intelligence, higher earnings, better social relationships, and more efficient decision-making.

To compliment the information provided elsewhere on this website, below are a number of ideas you can try at home or in a classroom to assist with improving a child’s sense of self-worth and feelings of positivity.

Please note: if your child is showing signs of anxiety or depression, please consider taking them to see a psychologist who specialises in working with kids with ADHD.
